Dear Pequea Church,
Did you know…?
• The parking lot behind the church is in constant use – and it’s unpaved?
• We don’t have enough parking spaces for new or senior church members?
• Paving the parking lot will help us grow Christ’s Church?
Now, don’t get the idea that this letter is about asphalt and more parking spaces. It’s much more than that. It’s about making it easy and convenient for new and existing church members and seniors to attend church services and functions. That ease and convenience will allow us to grow membership and grow our connection to a larger body of fellow Christians. Think of it as a sort of “myspace” social networking site – only it’s not in the virtual world, it’s in the real world.
That’s why we’re calling our new capital campaign: My Space: Paving the Way. We want to be connected to many more members who call Pequea BIC Church their “spiritual site.”
Here’s what you need to know:
We’ll be launching our campaign in May. Our goal is to raise $250,000 this year to pave and expand the parking lots so there will be room for forty more vehicles, (including doubling the seniors parking off the new life center kitchen area) and build an awning over the back parking lot steps. With your generous donation, we can grow our church family and shorten the distance seniors have to walk to services. Our message series and services on May 4, 11 and 18th will explain our campaign and describe how we’ll carry it forward over the coming months.
May 4: My Space-
Join us as we celebrate the “space” we’ve created at the Pequea Church – with its rich resources for ministry, its devoted congregation, and its active fellowship groups. We’re also celebrating our collective commitment to paying off our mortgage. With everyone’s time, talents and treasures, it’s taken only 7 years to pay it all off! Our message will focus on “celebrations past and present.” We’ll talk about the celebrations Jews held to commemorate what God did for his people and then we’ll transition to contemporary celebrations we hold to thank God for what he does for us today.
May 11: Why Space-
In our second week, we’ll highlight what it means to connect to each other to form – and be – the Pequea Church family. It’s about caring for each other as well as the world around us. Our message will explore the connection between God's people in the early church and how it revolutionized a community. We'll then look at practical ways to do that in our modern setting – including our new church family project: expanding our parking lot.
May 18: Buy Space-
In our final week, we will talk about putting Christ first in our lives and consider how to do that – as individuals and as a church family. Our message will focus on what it means to commit to “Buy Space” and the blessings that come from it. At this service, we will ask for a cash donation or your faith promise to help us pave and expand the back parking lot and build an awning over the steps.
Paving the parking lot will help us pave the way to our future. Please continue to invest in Pequea Church – our spiritual site – through your generous gifts.
In His Service,
R. Dale Shaw, senior pastor
Parking and Seating In May:
We are hoping that every household will participate in these “My Space” Sundays. The Parking lot attendants and the ushers will be prepared for your attendance by coordinating the parking and auditorium seating so there is room for everyone.
